The wardrobe series is inspired by European peasant painting, while the motifs – plants, animals, and ornaments – are drawn from Korean folk painting Minhwa (민화).

Minhwa refers to popular paintings created by common people during the Joseon Dynasty. Its motifs carry symbolic meanings and reflect everyday wishes: cranes, deer, or pine trees symbolize longevity, while animal pairs represent marital harmony and lasting partnerships. Overall, Minhwa paintings embody hopes for happiness, prosperity, and a fulfilling life.

Die Schrankserie ist von der europäischen Bauernmalerei inspiriert, während die Bildmotive – Pflanzen, Tiere und Ornamente – aus der koreanischen Volksmalerei Minhwa 민화 stammen.

Minhwa bezeichnet eine volkstümliche Malerei, die seit der Joseon-Dynastie von einfachen Menschen geschaffen wurde. 〈Schrank Serie〉는 유럽의 민속 회화인 Bauernmalerei의 형식을 바탕으로, 한국 민속회화인 민화의 이미지와 상징 체계를 결합한 작업이다.

민화는 조선시대 서민들에 의해 제작되고 향유된 회화로, 일상의 소망과 바람을 상징적으로 담아내는 시각 언어였다. 학, 사슴, 소나무, 불로초는 장수를, 한 쌍의 새나 오리는 부부 화합과 지속적인 관계의 행복을 상징하며, 이 밖에도 출세, 다산, 부귀, 길상 등 삶에 대한 다양한 희망이 이미지로 표현된다. 이러한 민화의 상징성은 인간의 삶과 욕망을 압축적으로 드러낸다는 점에서 내 작업에 중요한 영향을 주고 있다.
